FM 104 - Using the Control and Instrument Devices in PIPE-FLO (4 Hours)

FM 104 will give users hands-on experience using PIPE-FLO in a Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT) environment to gain an in-depth understanding of the control and instrument devices modeled in PIPE-FLO: the control valve, pressure relief device, orifice meter, nozzle meter, venturi meter, and balancing orifice. Students will learn how to size the devices based on different design parameters, the required and optional design data, available operating modes, and calculated results available for analysis. While becoming more proficient in navigating the PIPE-FLO user interface, students will learn the engineering principals and industry standards used to evaluate these devices. Exercises using PIPE-FLO will reinforce the workflow to create a piping system digital twin, understand how results can be used as virtual instrumentation, and better understand how to evaluate the messages and calculated results of each device.
